Not all [data] heroes wear capes

The AWS Analytics team brought us on to help develop and deliver on a multi-touchpoint, superhero-themed campaign that represented the growing community of AWS Data Heroes. These heroes offer boundless community support and knowledge-sharing which has earned them a badge of recognition in the AWS Heroes Program. The Analytics team wanted to spotlight these community ambassadors leading up to their annual re:Invent conference.

A hero-inspired brand identity

The AWS Analytics Superhero branding was established by taking influences from both AWS and the re:Invent conference branding. We distilled this into a bespoke brand identity that offered a vibrant, eye-catching color range that could be formed into various superhero character illustrations and personas.

Fully customized characters from the ground up

The superhero names, illustrations and personas were meticulously hand-crafted and inspired by working closely with the AWS Analytics team. This allowed us to create a dynamic superhero trio that mirrored similar strengths to already existing AWS community members with a slight superhero enhancement.

A badge worthy of heroes

Each badge concept was thoughtfully designed to represent the significance of the overarching superhero campaign which would become the core insignia for all conference collaterals.

Materials produced included large print graphics, kiosk digital display, t-shirt and sticker SWAG, social promo graphics, superhero-themed session agenda, and session badge templates.
