Better engagement through gamified experiences

We worked with the Microsoft Surface team to develop a NFL-inspired, gamified incentive platform called “Microsoft Surface Gridiron Challenge”. The goal was to create a user portal for their Surface Resellers for a way to improve device sales and overall user engagement. We went to work right away, looking at creative ways to engage users through incentive-driven gamified experiences and an impressive user interface.

A strikingly familiar, high-impact brand identity

The Surface Gridiron Challenge brand identity was heavily influenced by the NFL Monday Night Football theme and visual esthetic. This laid the groundwork in developing a custom challenge badge and implementing a consistent look and feel throughout the gamification assets.

Game assets included logo badge, cover art, background art for various landing pages, prizes, helmet customization and game cards.

Game feature and flow mapping

The platform was derived by conducting exploratory workshops and taking time to build a tactical roadmap. This helped us determine which game features to focus on and gave us a clear bird’s eye view for a more efficient design and development execution.
